$19.95$27.95

Information about the Bornean Orangutan:

The Bornean Orangutan is one of two species of orangutan (the other being the Sumatran.) It is native to the island of Borneo, which is the largest island in Asia and the third largest in the world. The Bornean Orangutan is the third largest of the great apes, behind the two species of gorilla. It is the largest in Asia. Large males can weigh about 165 pounds (75 kg) with the females being smaller. They have very long arms which help them navigate the dense jungles where they live. Currently, this primate can be found in the two Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, and three of the four Indonesian Provinces of Kalimantan. It is highly endangered due to habitat loss and illegal hunting. 100 years ago there were thought to be 315,000 orangutans in the wild. There are now less than 6,600 left in Sumatra, and less than 54,000 in Borneo. Gigantopithecus – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Gigantopithecus:

Gigantopithecus are extinct mammals from the order Primates. They lived in various locations in India, China and Vietnam from about nine millions years until about one hundred thousand years ago. While the fossil record is somewhat incomplete, it is believed that these apes grew to be very large, up to 10 feet tall (3 meters) weighing in the area of 1,200 pounds (540 kilograms.) Their massive bulk makes them about three times the size of modern gorillas. While little is known about their diet, it is believed they were mostly plant eaters because of the teeth that have been found and the climate and plant life that existed at that time. While there is no direct evidence, some Bigfoot enthusiasts believe that Gigantopithecus might be animal behind the many reported encounters with a large, bipedal ape in North America. Mountain Gorilla – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Mountain Gorilla:

Mountain Gorillas are one of two subspecies of Eastern Gorilla. These large and powerful primates are only be found in four national parks of the Virunga Mountains in Central Africa. While these animals are very strong, they are also generally gentle and shy. They live in groups of 2-40 individuals, averaging about 11. Wild male gorillas can weigh up to 300 to 400 pounds (135 to 180 kg) while females are usually about half that size. Adult males are roughly 5.5 feet tall (1.68 meters) with an arm span or from 7.5 to 8.5 feet (2.3 to 2.6 meters). Female gorillas are somewhat shorter with smaller arm spans. Groups are led by a dominant male called a 'Silverback'. The Mountain Gorilla is a herbivore that eats over 100 different species of plants. They are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching and decades of civil war in the areas they live. As of Spring in 2010 their entire population in the wild was estimated to be less than 800 individuals. Gorillas can be identified by their nose prints, which are unique to each animal.
