Information about the Royal Starfish:
The Royal Starfish is generally from in depths from 0-700 feet (0 - 200 metres) However it is most common in the mid continental shelf around 70-100 feet (20–30 meters). This starfish is found along the east coast and commonly along the southeast coast of the United States. The arms of the Royal Starfish are about 1-4 inches long (2–9 centimeters.) Astropecten articulatus is carnivorous, feeding on mollusks, which it grabs with its arms and then moves the animals to the center where the mouth is. Unlike other starfish, it swallows food whole.
