Information about the Beagle:

The Beagle is a smaller breed of dog belonging to the hound group. It looks very much like a Fox Hound, but is smaller, shorter and the beagle's ears are softer. These loveable dogs are scent hounds. They were bred mostly to track small game like hare and fox. It is believed these dogs have been around some 2,000 years, but the modern beagle can be traced back to the UK in the 1830's. They are perhaps best known for their use on fox hunts England. Which, with the development of the nation and fewer open areas, along with popular opinion turning against such events, has lessened their use in this manner.
