Information about the Black-Tailed Deer:

he Black-Tailed Deer is native to North America's coastal forests in the western part of the continent. They can range as far east as Wyoming. They are subspecies of the more common Mule Deer. There is some debate over whether it is its own species, but is usually treated as a subspecies. Like other species of deer, the Black-Tailed Deer prefers to live on the edge of forests, where it can feed on grasses and the tender shoots of budding plants. When threatened, the deer will run into the forest for cover and protection. In its native range this deer is very common and is often hunted for sport.
