The Tadjik Markhor - also called the Bukharan Markhor - is an endangered goat antelope native to the mountainous areas of Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, perhaps also Afghanistan. Because of the spectacular horns of the males they are much sought after and hunted for them. There are thought to be about 2,500 individuals in the wild in their numbers have been in steep decline for many decades.
