Information about the Crimson Rosella:
Crimson Rosella is species of parrot native to eastern and south eastern Australia. It has also been introduced to New Zealand as well as nearby Norfolk Island. It is most commonly found in mountain forests. It grows to be about 14 inches long (36cm) most of which is tail feathers. There are five subspecies of this parrot, three of which are crimson colored, the others are yellow and a hybrid of red and yellow. While these parrots are not endangered, they do face threats from habitat loss, attacks from non-native domestic animals such as dogs and cats.
