These mammals prefer environments with dense vegetation to provide cover. They do not dig their own burrows, but instead will use burrows that other animals have dug or live in piles of brush. They are among the smallest of the cottontail rabbits, generally growing to about 11-14 inches long and weighing less than two pounds. Like all rabbits it is a herbivore feeding on grasses, flowering plants and berries.
