The Jaguar ranges from the southwestern United States to Argentina. It is the only member of the Panthera genus native to the Americas. This large predatory feline live in a variety of habitats, from dense jungle and scrubland to shoreline forests. The Jaguar is one of the smaller big cats, measuring about 27 - 30 inches (68 -76 cm) from the ground to their shoulders, a body length of somewhere between 3.5 - 6.25 feet (1.1 - 1.9 m) weighing about 190 -300 pounds (57-113 kg) with the females being somewhat smaller.
