Information about the Indian Gharial:
The Indian Gharial is a large, semi-aquatic reptile native to the rivers and streams of the India subcontinent. They are also called the gavial or fish-eating crocodile. They are one of the longest crocodiles in the world, with adults growing to sizes of 11-15 feet (3.5-4.5 meters) with males being slightly larger. They are known for their distinctively slender snout that is thought to be an adaptation for catching fish. At one time they flourished in the major river systems of the Indian subcontinent, being found in rivers of its northern part from the Indus River in Pakistan across the Ganges floodplain to the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. They are now gone from much of their original range, and populations have collapsed from many thousands of individuals to perhaps less than 200 in the wild. There are several captive breeding programs that are attempting to save the species, but it's future is in great doubt.The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
