The Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth is a solitary, largely nocturnal and arboreal animal, found in mature and secondary rainforests and deciduous forests. Adults range from 21 to 28 inches (54 to 72 cm) in head-body length, and weigh from 4.6 to 19.8 pounds (2.1 to 9 kg) Hoffmann's two-toed sloth is found in the rainforest canopy in two separate regions of South America. One population is found from eastern Honduras in the north to western Ecuador in the south, and the other in eastern Peru, western Brazil, and northern Bolivia. These sloths mostly feed on leaves, but they will also eat fruits and flowers. The name is in honor of the the German naturalist Karl Hoffmann.
