Mexican Wolf – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Mexican Wolf:
The Mexican Wolf is a sub-species of the Gray or Timber Wolf . It was native to the regions of Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts from central Mexico to western Texas, southern New Mexico, and central Arizona. But due to a steep decline in the larger prey animals such as deer and elk, the wolf began to attack and kill domestic animals, which then led to the animal being hunted by government agencies and private citizens, until the population was eradicated in the wild. Today, there are only a few hundred alive on the planet, and these are either in zoos or preserves. There are efforts to save the species being made at various facilities in Mexico and The US. Mule Deer – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Mule Deer:
The Mule Deer lives in the western part of North America, generally the land west of the Missouri River. The name comes from the deer's large, mule-like ears. These deer prefer "edge" habitats where trees meet open grassy areas or meadows. They are rarely found very far from water or areas where they can feed. An adult male or "buck" generally grows to weigh from 150-300 pounds. The female "does" weigh less, on average about 100-175 pounds. Muskrat – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Muskrat:
The Muskrat is the only species in the genus Ondatra. It is a medium-sized semi-aquatic rodent native to the the swamps, bogs and other wetland areas. Like the American Beaver, it too has an effect on the ecology of the areas in which it lives. Despite the name, it is not a "true rat" but rather a relative. It is more closely related to lemmings and voles. Adult Muskrat grow to be about 16–28 inches long (40–70 cm) - almost half of that tail and weighing roughly 1.3–4.4 pounds (0.6–2 kg.) These small mammals are often found in the habitat as beavers, and they also have many of the same behaviors, such as felling trees by chewing through them and building dens. The Muskrat is an especially adaptable animal, and will often exploit areas altered by humans (canals, drainage ditches) to make homes. While they are only native to parts of North America, they have been introduced into much of the entire continent and Europe and have established themselves in these areas.
