The Crested Caracara is sometimes called the 'Mexican Eagle'. But is more like a something between a falcon and a vulture of the tropics. It has long legs and is a medium-sized bird of prey with a wingspan of about 48 inches. It ranges from the extreme Southwestern US down through Central America into northern parts of South America. It is the national bird of Mexico.
