Information about the Burrowing Owl:
The Burrowing Owl is a small predatory bird with long legs found in a variety of environments throughout much of North and South America. Adult owls measure 7.5–11 inches long (19–28 centimeters) with a wingspan of 20.0–24 in(50.8–61 centimeters) and weighing 4.9–8.5 ounces (140–240 grams.)These birds live in small groups, and can be found in grasslands, deserts and even in urban areas and cities, provided there is enough open area with low vegetation. Unlike most owls, Burrowing owls are active during the day, with hunting done primarily at dusk and dawn. The owls do not dig their own burrows, but rather take over ones already created by prairie dogs, badgers or ground squirrels, or ones that have been abandoned. Florida Horse Conch – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Florida Horse Conch:
The Florida Horse Conch (Latin name Triplofusus giganteus but at one time referred to as Pleuroploca gigantic) is a very large gastropod native to the warm coastal waters of North America from North Carolina south to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. It is the largest gastropods in the Americas, and one of the largest univalves on the planet, with a shell that can reach 24 inches (60 centimeters.) While not a "true" conch, is is like some of the genus of Strombus a predatory sea snail. When the snail is smaller the coloration of the shell is quite vivid and bright, but this coloration tends to fade as the animal ages, with the shell becoming more gray and white. The snail is commonly found in weed and mud flats from the low intertidal to shallow subtidal zones, usually in about 20 feet or water (6 meters.) It is the official shell of the state of Florida in the US. Fly River Turtle – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Fly River Turtle:
The Fly River Turtle - also called the Pig-Nosed Turtle - is an aquatic freshwater reptile native to northern Australia and Southern New Guinea. It is a fairly unique species of freshwater turtle; their feet are flippers, resembling those of marine turtles. The nose looks like that of a pig, having the nostrils at the end of a fleshy snout, hence the common name. The carapace is typically grey or olive, with a leathery texture, while the plastron is cream-colored. Males can be distinguished from females by their longer and narrower tails. Pig-nosed turtles can grow to about 70 cm (28 in) shell-length, with a weight of over 20 kg (44 lb). They are occasionally kept as pets in aquariums. The species is omnivorous, eating a wide variety of plant and animal matter, including the fruit and leaves of figs, as well as crustaceans, mollusks and insects. The species experienced a population decline of more than 50% in the thirty years between 1981 and 2011. Fossa – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Fossa:
The Fossa is a the largest carnivorous mammal native to the island nation of Madagascar. Its classification has been controversial because its physical traits resemble those of cats, yet other traits suggest a close relationship with some civets and their relatives. Adults have a head-body length of 28–31 in (70–80 cm) and weigh between 12 and 19 pounds (5.5 and 8.6 kg) Males are somewhat larger than the females. It has semi-retractable claws and flexible ankles that allow it to climb up and down trees head-first, and also support jumping from tree to tree. The species is widespread, although population densities are usually low. It is found solely in forested habitat, and actively hunts both by day and night. Over 50% of its diet consists of lemurs, the endemic primates found on the island; tenrecs, rodents, lizards, birds, and other animals are also documented as prey. The fossa is listed as "Vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
