The Regal Moth is a Nearctic moth in the subfamily Saturniinae. The caterpillars are called hickory horned devils. The adult moth has a wingspan of 3.75-6.1 inches (9.5-15.5 centimeters).This moth is the largest moth by mass in latitudes north of Mexico. The life cycle of the moth is typical of the Saturniidae species, and typical of the Ceratocampinae. It burrows into the ground to pupate in an earthen chamber, rather than spinning a cocoon. While the moth is considered a fairly common species in the Deep South, becoming rarer and more sporadic northward. Historically recorded throughout New England, the species suffered a decline in the Atlantic Northeast during the mid-20th century. .After the moths mate, the female spends the majority of the remainder of her life laying eggs, while the male may mate several more times. Adults of this family of moths have vestigial mouths, meaning their mouthparts have been reduced. Because of this, they do not eat and only live for about a week as adults. The Rhinoceros Iguana is a species of ground dwelling lizard native to the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. They grow to be about 24-54 inches (60-136 cm) They are found in a variety of tones and colors, from slate gray to brown. The popular name comes from the bony-plated horn-like growth at the snout of the iguana. These lizards are primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, flowers, berries and other fruits. The iguana is an important contributors to plant growth which is does by distributing the seeds of the fruits it consumes. While the iguana is considered threatened in much of it's native range, aggressive conservation projects have helped stabilize the population. It has also been re-introduced into areas where it has been previously extirpated. The Ribbon Seal is a medium-sized pinniped from the true seal family (Phocidae). A seasonally ice-bound species, it is found in the Arctic and Subarctic regions of the North Pacific Ocean, notably in the Bering Sea and Sea of Okhotsk. It is distinguished by its striking coloration, with two wide white strips and two circles against dark brown or black fur. It is the only living species in the genus Histriophoca. The ribbon seal lives in the Arctic parts of the Pacific Ocean. During winter and spring, it hauls out on pack ice to breed, molt, and give birth. During this time, it is found at the ice front in the Bering and Okhotsk Seas. During the summer and autumn, the ribbon seal lives in open water, though some move north as the ice recedes with warmer temperatures. Little is known about its habit during this time, as it is so far from land and human observation.
