Information about the Matamata Turtle:

The Matamata (or Mata mata) is a freshwater reptile found in marshes, backwater streams, swamps and stagnant ponds in the rainforests of South America. It prefers shallow water so it can easily lift it's distinctive snout nose out to breath air. In the water the Matamata's shell resembles fallen leaves. When feeding the turtle sits patiently waiting for a fish to come into range. When one does, it sucks it into it's mouth using a powerful vacuum. This reptile is a very popular animals in the exotic pet trade. The Matamata's shell can be as large as 18" and adults weigh up to 33 pounds.

Information about the Northern Tamandua Anteater:

The Northern Tamandua is a small, rainforest dwelling anteater native to tropical and sub-tropical areas of southern Mexico, down through much of Central America and to the northern range of the Andes Mountains in South America. It is also sometimes called the "Vested Anteater" due to the distinctive vest of brown fur on it's mid-section. As the name implies, it feeds on ants and termites that it laps up using it's sticky saliva and tongue, which it swallows whole because it has no teeth. It is mostly arboreal, spending much of their lives in the rainforest canopy, using it's prehensile tail to help navigate through the trees. When the Tamandua feels threatened, it will stand on it's hind legs, spread it's arms out and attempt to appear to large to eat. There are four recognized subspecies of Tamandua mexicana. Information about the Ocelot:

The Ocelot, sometimes called the "Dwarf Leopard" is a wild cat distributed over South and Central America and Mexico, but has been reported as far north as Texas. The Ocelot's appearance is similar to that of the domestic cat, although it is considerably larger, growing 27 to 39 inches long (68 to 100 centimeters) in length, plus 10 to 18 inches (26 to 45 centimeters) for the tail, and typically weighs 18 to 40 pounds (8 to 18 kilograms) These mammals can be found in a variety of habitats, but always in areas where relatively dense vegetation cover. Most of the time the Ocelot will hunt at night, using it's excellent night vision to catch it's prey. It is a very formidable predator, and will hunt small mammals, lizards, turtles, frogs, crabs, bird and fish. The adult Ocelot have large territories, usually of several square miles which it will defend ferociously. Occasionally these territorial disputes with result in injury or even death to one of the cats.

Information about the Parachuting Red-Eyed Leaf Frog:

The Parachuting Red-Eyed Leaf Frog - also called the Misfit Frog - is a smaller frog, with adult males ranging from 34 to 54 mm and the larger females ranging from 57 to 66 mm. They are found in the tropical and subtropical rainforests of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. This frog is identified by its dramatic red eyes with vertical pupils, and its orange hands and feet. They have extensive webbing between the fingers and toes and large suction disks at end of each digit. Other than the size difference between the males and females, males develop a dark or black patch on the inside of the base of the thumb during mating season. This species closely resembles Agalychnis callidryas (red-eyed leaf frog) but with some differences. It has a uniform dark blue or purple flanks instead of vertical white, yellow, or cream bars found in the red-eyed leaf frog. Another difference is that Agalychnis saltator changes its color from uniform leaf-green during the day to tan or brown during the night, while the red-eyed leaf frog just change their hue.

The Plumed Basilisk - also called the Green Basilisk, Double-Crested Basilisk, or Jesus Christ Lizard - is native to the tropical rainforests of eastern Honduras, through Nicaragua and Costa Rica and into western Panama. Males have three crests: one on the head, one on the back and one on the back, whereas the females one have one on their heads. They have the very curious ability to skip across short distances of water. That has given rise to the popular name "Jesus Christ Lizard."
