Information about the Rufous Hummingbird:
The Rufous Hummingbird is a smaller hummingbird of about 3 inches long. The females are slightly larger. They're native to North America breeding from California to Alaska. During winter they migrate to Mexico which can be a journey of over 2,000 miles. While generally found in the western parts of North America they've been know to stray to areas as far east as Florida. They are extremely hardy birds and can survive fairly cold conditions.
