The Carolina Wolf Spider - also called the Giant Carolina Wolf Spider - is the largest spider in North America. It can grow to a length of 3-4 inches long (22-35 mm) They range over much of southern Canada and the US. Like other wolf spiders, H. carolinensis has eight eyes that are arranged in rows of three. The middle row has two very large and prominent eyes, the bottom row has four smaller eyes and the top has two medium sized eyes. Their eyes are good for night vision as when they are hunting. They depend mostly on camouflage for protection, so they are usually very drab, colored with gray and brown. Carpenter Ant – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Carpenter Ant:
Carpenter Ants are small invertebrates and members of the order Hymenoptera, which is one of the largest order of insects that includes wasps, bees and ants. There are about 130,000 indentified species in this order. They are indigenous to many different parts of the world, usually residing in dead and decaying wood to build their colonies and raise their offspring, carving out living areas in the wood, and that is where they get their common name from. However, they do not eat wood, and have little interest in healthy wood that is not in the process of rotting. They are extremely adaptable and will live in a variety of environments, often in manmade structures and are often viewed as destructive pests. Carpenter ants coloration can vary, even within the same species. But they are usually black, brown or a combination of the two. Normally found between 390 and 6,316 ft (120 and 1,925 meters) above sea level and has been estimated to be found over an area of 180,554 sq mi (467,634 kilometers) Both males and females can reach a maximum length of anything between 6.7 and 9.8 inches (17 and 25 centimeters). The males are largely green and females are heavier-bodied and have a wider range of colors, including bands of white, yellow and orange. Both sexes have stripy throats and lips. Usually the reptile start the day with a dark color to enable them to warm up rapidly by exposing themselves to sunlight. Cattle Egret – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Cattle Egret:
The Cattle Egret species of heron (family Ardeidae) found in the tropics, subtropics and warm temperate zones. It is the only member of the monotypic genus Bubulcus. It nests in colonies, usually near bodies of water and often with other wading birds. The nest is a platform of sticks in trees or shrubs. Cattle egrets exploit drier and open habitats more than other heron species. Their feeding habitats include seasonally inundated grasslands, pastures, farmlands, wetlands and rice paddies. They often accompany cattle or other large mammals, catching insect and small vertebrate prey disturbed by these animals. This species maintains a special relationship with cattle, which extends to other large grazing mammals; wider human farming is believed to be a major cause of their suddenly expanded range. The cattle egret removes ticks and flies from cattle and eats them.
