The Great Hammerhead Shark is the largest of the hammerheads, growing on average to be about 11-12 feet long. The largest on record, however, reached an amazing 20 feet long. This shark can be found in tropical and warm waters around the world. Like other apex predators, the Great Hammerhead is a solitary and nomadic hunter. The shark is an opportunistic feeder and will prey on crabs, lobsters, squid, octopus and fish. While potentially dangerous, the Great Hammerhead rarely attacks humans.
