Brazilian Porcupine – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Brazilian Porcupine:
The Brazilian Porcupine is a mostly tree-dwelling mammal found in the tropical rainforests of Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, the Guyanas, Bolivia and Trinidad. The body is covered with short, thick spines which are whitish or yellowish in color, mixed with the darker hair, while the underside is grayish. The lips and nose are fleshy. The tail is prehensile, with the tip curling upward so as to get a better grip on tree branches. This porcupine can grow to forty inches long, but half of that is tail. It weighs about nine pounds. Its feet are reflective of their living in the trees with four long-clawed toes on each that are ideal for grasping branches. During the day it rests in a cavity in a hollow tree or in a well-shaded area of the canopy, 10-30 feet from the forest floor. It rarely descends to the ground, but it shows little fear if it happens to be caught. It is not aggressive but will defend itself ferociously if attacked. Its diet consists of leaves, fruit, and small fresh twigs and shoots. This creature can easily be tamed enough to be kept in captivity. When excited, porcupines stamp their hind feet. Vocalizations consist of growls and cries. If caught, the porcupine rolls into a ball. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

California Newt – Signed Fine Art Print
Fine art illustration of a California Newt (Taricha torosa.)Â
Information about the California Newt:
The California Newt is a small amphibian native to the California coastline and in the Sierra Nevada. The are roughly 5-8 inches long. They are divided into two subspecies: the Sierra Newt and the Coastal Range Newt. During the non-breeding season the newts are land dwelling, preferring rock crevices and the undersides of rotting logs. While breeding, the newt prefers slow moving pools in coastal streams. Like other members of the genus the Taricha's glands in the skin secrete the potent neurotoxin tetrodotoxin, which is hundreds of times more toxic than cyanide. Due to this poison the California newt has few natural predators. To combat this toxicity some species of Garter snakes have developed a genetic resistance the newt's tetrodotoxin. California Sheephead – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the California Sheephead:
The California Sheephead are native to the kelp forests and open, rocky areas of the Pacific Ocean off the coastline of the US. They are sexually dimorphic, which means their are physical differences between males and females; the females are smaller than the males and are without the distinctive coloration of the males and their bands of red and black with white bellies. Sheephead have powerful jaws used to pry animals from rocks, usually crustaceans or other hard bodied invertebrates. Their teeth are then used to grind up the animal. They are active during the day and usually retreat into a rock crevice during the night. These large fish were once plentiful, but overfishing has caused their number to plummet, and there is now restrictions on how many can be caught. All sheephead are born female, but change their gender as they age. How this process works and why the fish has developed this way is unknown. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
