Dire Wolf – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Dire Wolf:
The Dire Wolf is an extinct carnivore that roamed North and South America. At one point it was the most common predator in it's range. It went extinct about 10,000 years ago, having existed on the planet for some 1.7 million years. They were larger than today's Gray Wolf, having a length of roughly five feet (1.5 meters) weighing 110-175 pounds (50 -79 kg) which is roughly 25 percent larger than a Gray Wolf and the power of their jaws was thought to be about 130% stronger. The first specimen of a Dire Wolf was discovered in Evansville, Indiana in 1854. The Ohio river was low and a jawbone was found on the banks. There are many theories why the Dire Wolf went extinct while the Gray Wolf survived. Perhaps a series of environmental pressures such as a decline in prey, human predation and hunting and climate change forced the larger and less adaptable Dire Wolf into extinction. Dusky-Footed Woodrat – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Dusky-Footed Woodrat:
The Dusky-Footed Woodrat is a nocturnal mammal native to the forested areas of Mexico and California. They are sometimes called "packrats" or "trade rats." The Woodrat builds large, doomed dens that can be as large as several feet. These large protective dens usually discourage potential predators. While they are solitary animals, except when breeding, they will live in communities where there are several dens close to one another. It's been recorded that Dusky-footed woodrats of California will selectively place California bay leaves (Umbellularia) around the edges of their nest within their stickhouse to control levels of parasites such as fleas. Yellow-Headed Blackbird – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Yellow-Headed Blackbird:
The Yellow-Headed Blackbird is a passerine bird and a member of the Icteridae family and the only member of the genus Xanthocephalus. Adult males are mainly black with a yellow head and breast; they have a white wing patch sometimes only visible in flight. The adult female is mainly brown with a dull yellow throat and breast. They are typically found in swamps and marshes of North America, mainly west of the Great Lakes. They nest in colonies, often sharing their habitat closely with the Red-winged Blackbird. During the breeding and nesting season the males are very territorial and spend much of their time perched on reed stalks and displaying or chasing off intruders. These birds migrate in the winter to the southwestern United States and Mexico. They often migrate in huge flocks with other species of birds. The only regions of the United States where these blackbirds are permanent residents are the San Joaquin Valley and the Lower Colorado River Valley of Arizona and California. These birds forage in the marsh, in fields or on the ground; they sometimes catch insects in flight. They mainly eat seeds and insects. Outside of the nesting period, they often feed in flocks, often with related species. This bird's song resembles the grating of a rusty hinge. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
