They inhabit wooded areas of the Americas, from southeastern Arizona and New Mexico in the north down into Columbia in the south. They are opportunistic, omnivorous eaters and will feed on small vertebrates as well as fruit, eggs, carrion and insects. They are excellent climbers and will head for the trees if they sense danger. White-Tailed Deer, also known as the Virginia deer, inhabit most of southern Canada and all of the mainland United States except two or three states in the west. Their range extends all the way down through Central America into South America. While they vary in size depending on the range, generally they are about 6 to 7.75 ft. (1.8 to 2.4 m) and weigh 110 to 300 lbs (50 to 136 kg) These deer are able to survive in a variety of terrestrial habitats.
