Hilton’s Aeolid – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Hilton's Aeolid:
The Hilton's Aeolid is a aeolid nudibranchis a species of sea slug. These animals are shell-less marine gastropod mollusks in the family Aeolidiidae. This sea slug has a small range of distribution, native to the kelp forests of central California coast to Baja California, Mexico. They are also found in the Gulf of Mexico. This nudibranch grows to about 2 inches long (50 mm). The reddish or brownish line across its head is almost always present, and is very characteristic of the species. This species can be confused with Hermissenda crassicornis, which is superficially similar in appearance. This aolid nudibranch species is considered to be rather aggressive, often biting and fighting with other nudibranchs, including members of its own species. Oregon Hairy Triton – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Oregon Hairy Triton:
The Oregon Hairy Triton is a member of the Gastropoda family, which are marine mollusks. It is a large predatory snail. It can be found along the coastline from Alaska, all the way down the Pacific Coast to California. They are also found on the other side of the ocean in Northern Japan. While not much is really know about the feeding habit of these snails, it is believed they prey on other mollusks and perhaps even sea urchins. Despite the common name, they are not hairy, but instead are covered with periostracum, which is a thin organic coating or "skin" which is the outermost layer of the shell. The name was given to honor the Oregon Territory by conchologist John Howard Redfield in 1846. Many decades later this gastropod was named the official state shell of Oregon. Information about Orange-Spike Polycera:
The Orange-Spike Polycera is a nudibranch or sea slug, which are shell-less marine gastropod mollusks in the family Polyceridae. Members of this genus have non-retractile gills with accessory postero-lateral extra- branchial appendages. They are usually gray or white with black stripes down their bodies. Adults average about 25-30 mm long, but they can grow larger - up to 40 cm. Yellow orange dots occur on the lighter portion of the body. This species is native to the intertidal zones of the eastern Pacific Pacific Ocean, has been reported from Cape Arago, Oregon, USA, to BahĂa Estero de Coyote (on the Punta Eugenia peninsula, just south of BahĂa Tortugas), Baja California Sur, Mexico. Sea Lemon – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Sea Lemon:
The Sea Lemon is a nudibranch, usually growing to about 1-3 inches (25-75mm) but is can grow much larger. This species may produce a lot of sweet, fruity-smelling mucus when disturbed, and this will cause some predators to release them. They are native to coastal waters from Kodiak Island, Alaska to Isla Coronados in Baja, California. These gastropods are common in low intertidal, on rocky shores and in and around harbor pilings. This is the largest of California nudibranchs. It has a penetrating, fruity odor, which may be used to fend off predators. It feeds on a variety of sponges. It may also ingest quantities of organic detritus. Studies show that individual nudibranchs are conservative in their food habits; they tend to keep eating the same food species, even if they are transferred to other sites. Spawning period varies with location, but extend for several months. The mating is reciprocal; partners may be of vastly different size. Buy a Digital Download

Giant African Snail – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Giant African Land Snail:
The Giant African Land snail is a species of large, air-breathing gastropod member of the Achatinidae family. They are native to the forests of East Africa, but have been introduced widely into Asia, and Pacific and Indian Ocean islands and the West Indies. They are recognized now as one of the worst invasive species on the planet, and they have devastated ecosystems where they have been introduced. They feed on plants, fruits, vegetables and even sand, small stones and concrete as calcium sources. They will even eat other snails. Generally they are active at night, searching for food but will spend most of the day buried underground. Hopkin’s Rose Nudibranch – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Hopkin's Rose Nudibranch:
The Hopkin's Rose is a species of sea slug. The tentacle like structures on its dorsal surface are fairly uncommon for a dorid nudibranch. Because of this and the pink coloration it is sometimes mistaken for a sea anemone. These nudibranchs ranges from Oregon to Baja California, and is especially common around Monterey, California. It feeds on another pink animal, the bryozoan (Eurystomella bilabiata) which are found under rocks in the low tide zone and below, from Southern California to Alaska. Florida Horse Conch – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Florida Horse Conch:
The Florida Horse Conch (Latin name Triplofusus giganteus but at one time referred to as Pleuroploca gigantic) is a very large gastropod native to the warm coastal waters of North America from North Carolina south to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. It is the largest gastropods in the Americas, and one of the largest univalves on the planet, with a shell that can reach 24 inches (60 centimeters.) While not a "true" conch, is is like some of the genus of Strombus a predatory sea snail. When the snail is smaller the coloration of the shell is quite vivid and bright, but this coloration tends to fade as the animal ages, with the shell becoming more gray and white. The snail is commonly found in weed and mud flats from the low intertidal to shallow subtidal zones, usually in about 20 feet or water (6 meters.) It is the official shell of the state of Florida in the US. Flamingo Tongue Snail – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Flamingo Tongue Snail:
The Flamingo Tongue Snail is a marine gastropod member of the family Ovulidae. It lives in the sub-tidal zones of the Caribbean and South Atlantic Oceans. They are fairly small - only about 1 inch long. Unlike nudibranchs, flamingo tongue snails have a shell; however, the shell is typically not visible in living animals due to the mantle flesh covering it. When alive, the snail appears yellow-orange with irregular shaped spots ringed in black. However, the mantle can be retracted, exposing the shell. This snail is extremely over-collected and this has led to called for it to be protected. Hawaiian Tree Snail – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Hawaiian or Oahu Tree Snail:
This particular Hawaiian Tree Snail (Achatinella fulgens) is a critically endangered gastropod endemic to Hawaii. It is part of the family of Oahu tree snails which were devastated by the introduction of non-native snail and plant species to their fragile ecosystem. The snails are generally nocturnal, and can be found on native trees and large bushes, where they graze fungi from the surfaces of leaves and stems. Adults have both hermaphrodites male and female parts. When giving birth, the young are born live. Oahu tree snails are today restricted to mountainous forests above 1500 feet.
