Tundra Swan – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Tundra Swan:

The Tundra Swan is a small Holarctic swan native to the Arctic and Sub-Arctic regions. These large birds have high-pitched honking calls and sound similar to a black goose. They are particularly vocal when foraging in flocks on their wintering grounds; any conspecific arriving or leaving will elicit a bout of loud excited calling from its fellows. Contrary to its common name, the ground calls of the Whistling Swan are not a whistle and neither notably different from that of Bewick's Swan. The flight call of the latter is a low and soft ringing bark, bow-wow...; the Whistling Swan gives a markedly high-pitched bark in flight. By contrast, the Whooper and Trumpeter Swans' names accurately describe their calls – a deep hooting and a higher-pitched French horn-like honk, respectively. Flying birds of these species are shorter-necked and have a quicker wingbeat than their relatives, but they are often difficult to tell apart except by their calls. Information about the Pied-Billed Grebe:

The Pied-Billed Grebe is a widely distributed member of the family Podicipedidae, which are the grebes and has dozens of species in the world. They have many other names, such as American dabchick, dabchick, Carolina grebe, devil-diver, dive-dapper, dipper, hell-diver, pied-billed dabchick, thick-billed grebe, and water witch. Ruddy Duck – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Ruddy Duck:

The Ruddy Duck is a duck from North America and the Andes Mountains of South America. It is one of the "stiff-tailed ducks." Their breeding habitat is marshy lakes and ponds. They nest in dense marsh vegetation near water. The female builds the nest out of grass, locating it in tall vegetation to hide it from predators. A typical brood contains 5 to 15 ducklings. They are migratory and winter in coastal bays and unfrozen lakes and ponds. These birds dive and swim underwater. They mainly eat seeds and roots of aquatic plants, aquatic insects and crustaceans. As a result of escapes from wildfowl collections, they are now established in Great Britain, from where they have spread widely into Europe. This duck's aggressive courting behavior and willingness to interbreed with the endangered native White-headed Duck, of southern Europe, has caused some concern. Due to this, there is now a controversial scheme to extirpate the Ruddy Duck as a British breeding species; there have also been culling attempts in other European countries. They're know for their massive migrations, which is from their nesting areas in the arctic to areas south, and during this they can cover some 3,000 miles. Mottled Duck – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Mottled Duck:

The Mottled Duck is a The adult Mottled Duck is 44–61 cm (17–24 in) long from head to tail. It has a dark body, lighter head and neck, orange legs and dark eyes. Both sexes have a shiny green-blue speculum (wing patch), which is not bordered with white as with the Mallard. Males and females are similar, but the male's bill is bright yellow, whereas the female's is deep to pale orange, occasionally lined with black splotches around the edges and near the base. The plumage is darker than in female Mallards, especially at the tail, and the bill is yellower. In flight, the lack of a white border to the speculum is a key difference. The American Black Duck is darker than most Mottled Ducks, and its wing-patch is more purple than blue. The behavior and voice are the same as the Mallard. Mottled Ducks feed by dabbling in shallow water, and grazing on land. They mainly eat plants, but also some mollusks and aquatic insects. The ducks are fairly common within their restricted range; they are resident all-year round and do not migrate. The breeding habitat is coastal marshes. The nest is built on the ground amongst vegetation, such as bull-rush and marsh grass.
