American Shad – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Shad Fish:
The American Shad is a species of migrating herring native to the waters from southern Labrador in Canada south to northern Florida. Despite the name, they are not closely related to other shads. They are medium-sized fish, weighing roughly between three and eight pounds when fully grown. American Shads have a natural flavor that makes them a very desirable fish for the dinner table. The eggs of the fish (called roe) are considered a delicacy. Although most of the American Shad's life is spent at sea, it does travel up rivers to spawn. In 2003 the American Shad was declared the official fish for the state of Connecticut. American Toad – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Toad:
The American Toad is a common amphibian found throughout the eastern US and Canada. They are rarely found far from water and rely upon semi-permanent freshwater ponds or slow moving streams for their early development. American Toads are able to live in a variety of environments, from forests to fields and can be found living in urban areas near gardens, where they surface at night to hunt insects near artificial light sources such as porch lights. They have poisonous glands on their 'warts' but the toxin is only dangerous to humans if ingested or if it comes in contact with eyes. American White Pelican – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the White Pelican:
White Pelicans are one of the largest birds in North America. They have a wing span of approximately 9 feet. They don't dive for fish as the Brown Pelican does. Instead, they dip their heads underwater to scoop up fish. Several pelicans may fish cooperatively, moving into a circle to concentrate them, and then dipping their heads under simultaneously to catch fish. White Pelicans nest in colonies of several hundred pairs on islands in remote brackish and freshwater lakes of inland North America. American Wigeon – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the American Wigeon:
The American Wigeon is a medium-sized bird usually growing to about 17-23 inches long (59 cm) with a 30–36 inch (76–91 cm) wingspan and weighing 1.13–2.9 pounds (512–1,330 grams). This bird is quite noisy and in the field can often be identified by it's very distinctive calls. The males produce a three note whistle, while the females emit hoarse grunts and quacks. The American Wigeon is a bird of open wetlands, such as wet grassland or marshes with some taller vegetation, and usually feeds by dabbling for plant food or grazing, which it does very readily. It is common and widespread, breeding in all but the extreme north of Canada and Alaska and also in the Interior West through Idaho, Colorado, the Dakotas, and Minnesota, as well as eastern Washington and Oregon. The majority of the population breeds on wetlands in the Boreal Forest and subartic river deltas of Canada and Alaska. This dabbling duck is migratory and winters farther south than its breeding range, in the southern half of the United States, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and the Mid-Atlantic coastal region, and further south into Central America and northwestern South America. Ancient Bison – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Ancient Bison:
The Ancient Bison is an extinct mammal that was native to the North American continent. It was one of the most widespread of the herbivores and is the most common member of the order mammalia found at the noted La Brea Tar Pits in southern California. During the late Pleistocene era (240,000 and 220,000 years ago) the species Bison priscus migrated from Siberia and to Alaska, and eventually was replaced in mid North America by Bison latifrons. Antique bison branched out and existed until around ten thousand years ago. The modern Bison came from this species. Larger than the modern bison by 15-20 percent, the antique bison had horns that could reach a length of up to three feet. There has been much speculation as to why this species went extinct, although recent theories point to climate change as one of the major causes. Buy a Digital Download

Andean Condor – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Andean Condor:
The Andean Condor is a species of South American bird in the New World vulture family Cathartidae and is the only member of the genus Vultur. The large birds of prey are native to the Andes mountains and adjacent Pacific coasts of western South America. They have one of the largest wingspans of all birds in the world - 10.5 feet or 3.2 meters. Males have a is a wattle on the neck and a large, dark red comb or caruncle on the crown of the head. While they can be found at nearly any elevation, they usually build their nests at elevations of up to 16,000 feet or 5,000 meters, usually in inaccessible rock ledges. The condor can live to be up to 100 years in captivity, which makes them one of the world's longest-living birds, with a lifespan of up to 100 years old in captivity. The Andean Condor is a national symbol of Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador. The Andean Condor is considered near threatened, due to by habitat loss and by secondary poisoning from carcasses killed by hunters. Anhinga – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Anhinga:
The Anhinga is a shorebird native to the warmer parts of North America and South America. It is a member of the darter family. While it is not closely related to the cormorant, it shares the ability to stay submerged for significant periods of time when hunting. The name 'Anhinga' comes from the Brazilian Tupi language meaning devil bird or snake bird, because when it is hunting only the neck appears and it looks somewhat like a snake about to strike.
