Patch-Nosed Salamander – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Patch-Nosed Salamander:
The Patch-Nosed Salamander is a lungless salamander native to the streams of Georgia and South Carolina. It is the only extant member of the genus Urspelerpes. They are very small - only about 2 inches long (5cm). The name comes from the yellow patch found on the nose. Generally males are more colorful than the females. Its known range is small, having been identified in only a few counties in the USA. The name Urspelerpes means "archaic" (ur) and "cave creeper" (spelerpes) in Greek. The binominal name "brucei" honors Richard Bruce, who is a professor at Western Carolina University. Red Hills Salamander – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Red Hills Salamander:
The Red Hills Salamander is a larger terrestrial salamander native to a very small range of southern Alabama, in an area of only about 50-60,000 acres in a 60-mile narrow belt between the Conecuh and Alabama rivers. They usually grow to about 10 inches long (25 centimeters.) This amphibian wasn't officially discovered until 1960. Much of the area that the salamander lives in is owned by paper companies, which are systematically clear-cutting the forest and slowly extirpating this salamander from the few areas they exist. For this reason the amphibian is considered threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN.) In 2000 the Alabama state legislature officially made the Red Hills Salamander the state amphibian. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Red Salamander – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Red Salamander:
The Red Salamander is an amphibian member of the order Caudata, which are salamanders. They are native to North America, and can be found in a variety of habitats including temperate forests, small creeks, ponds, marshes, freshwater springs and slow moving rivers. They grow to be about 4-6 inches long. The family they belong to - Plethodontidae - are salamanders without lungs and instead respires through their skin. Pseudotriton ruber is perhaps one of the most primitive plethodontids, and therefore considered very important by some as a means to better understand how species evolve. It is, however, on the decline due to habitat destruction and global climate change.
