Northern Saw-Whet Owl – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Northern Saw-Whet Owl:

The Northern Saw-Whet Owl is a smaller, fairly common owl native to the forests of North America, including southeastern Alaska, southern Canada, most of the United States and the central mountains in Mexico. Generally the adults grow to be about 6.7–8.7 inches long (17–22 cm) with a 17–22.2 inch wingspan (42–56.3 cm) These owls weigh only about 1.9 to 5.3 oz (54 to 151 g) with an average of around 2.8 oz (80 g) which makes them one of the smallest owls in North America. They are roughly the size of an American Robin. When calling the Northern Saw-Whet Owl makes a repeated tooting whistle-like sound. These calls are usually made to attract a mate, so the calls are more common in the spring months. They are very effective hunters, like all owls, and will feed on a variety of animals such as small mammals, birds, insects and amphibians.
