Pallas’s Cat – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Pallas's Cat:

Pallas's CatPallas's cat also called the manul, is a small wild feline native to the in the grasslands and montane steppe of Central Asia. It is about the size of a domestic cat. The combination of its stocky posture and long, dense fur makes it appear stout and plush. The legs are proportionately shorter than those of other cats, the ears are set very low and wide apart, and it has unusually short claws. The face is shortened compared with other cats, giving it a flattened face. Like other wild cats, they are mostly solitary animals, with both males and females marking their territories with scent marks. These cats spend the day in caves, rock crevices, or marmot burrows, and emerge in the late afternoon to begin hunting. They are not fast runners, and hunt primarily by ambush or stalking, using low vegetation and rocky terrain for cover. They feed largely on diurnally active prey species such as gerbils, pikas, voles and chukar partridges, and sometimes catch young marmots. Pallas's cat was named after the German naturalist Peter Simon Pallas, who first described the species in 1776 under the binomial Felis manul. There are three recognized sub-species, all found in Asia.

Persian Leopard – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Persian Leopard:

The Persian Leopard - also called Caucasian leopard - is the largest leopard subspecies They are native to remote areas of northern Iran, eastern Turkey, the Caucasus mountains, southern Turkmenistan, and parts of western Afghanistan. This large wild cat endangered throughout its range with fewer than 871–1,290 mature individuals, and the population is declining. Like other large cats, Persian Leopards feed on goat, deer, gazelle and wild boar. They will attack and kill livestock and for this reason they are often exterminated by local farmers. At one time these leopards were most likely distributed once over the whole Caucasus, except for steppe areas. Surveys conducted between 2001 and 2005 confirmed that there are no more leopards in the western part of the Greater Caucasus, and that they survived only at a few sites in the eastern part. The largest populations survive in Iran. The political and social changes in the former Soviet Union in 1992 caused a severe economic crisis and a weakening of formerly effective protection systems.

Persian Onager – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Persian Onager:

The Persian Onagers are one of six sub-species of wild ass that once were common across Central Asia and the Middle East. Fewer than 700 animals remain in the wild, most of these in Iran. Because of their remote location and travel in Iran generally restricted to outsides, determining their population is increasingly difficult. These wild asses face several threats, including poaching, habitat loss, drought and inbreeding due to the small population. Sometimes the term "onager" is reserved specifically for this subspecies. There are very few onagers in captivity or in zoos, however in 2012 there was a rare foal born to the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
