Common Seahorse – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Common Seahorse:

The Common Seahorse is a small fish that inhabits the coastal waters throughout much of the Indo-Pacific oceans. They have prehensile tail to attach themselves to plant matter, as they are not the best swimmers. The seahorse is unusual as it is the male that carries the eggs in a brood patch on the lower abdomen. After about 4-5 weeks, the young seahorse are born out of the pouch. Common seahorses are also very popular as aquarium pets, although their specialized dietary needs can be challenging for a beginner.

Common Sunstar – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Common Sunstar:

The Common Sunstar is a member of the family Solasteridae, which includes about 10 different genera of sea stars. This echinoderm is native to the coastal waters of both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, mostly in the northern parts. It is common along the coastlines of the northern European nations, along with much of the Pacific Coastline of North America. The animal gets it's name from the circular shape and large number of arms - usually between 8 and 14 - which resemble the sun. They are large, usually about 15 inches across (40cm) While they are generally found at depth of at least 5-10 feet, very low season tides will expose them to the open air. Currently there is a disease that is causing the population to waste away, and the cause is unknown. Coral Trout – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Coral Trout:

The Coral Trout - also called the Leopard Coral Grouper or Leopard Coral Trout is a species of fish in the Serranidae family. Native to the western Pacific Ocean, its natural habitat includes open seas and coral reefs. Coral trout are piscivorous; juveniles mostly eat crustaceans, especially prawns, and adults feed upon a variety of reef fish, particularly damselfish. The Coral trout is found in the waters around warm tropical waters of the South Pacific. Its natural habitat includes open seas and coral reefs. Studies suggest that coral trout move around considerably within a single reef, though often no further than 1600 feet (500 meters) from it. The average daily growth of newly settled juveniles has been measured at 0.81 mm per day. This means they reach close to 14 cm (5.5 in) in the first 6 months. Growth rates of coral trout are variable; every age class has a wide range of sizes. To estimate growth, the age and size of a fish must be determined. Recent research at Bramble Reef has found that common coral trout reaches a maximum age of 16 years.
