The Swallow-Tailed Kite is a member of the Accipitridae family. It's native to the woodlands and wetlands. They breed in the southeastern parts of the United States in the spring and early summer, but in the winter they migrate southwards to South America, and can be found in eastern Peru and northern Argentina. Swallow-Tailed Kites are about 20-26 inches long (50 to 65 centimeters) with a wingspan of roughly 3.7–4.5 feet (1.12–1.36 meters) Male and female individuals are very similar in appearance and size. They are very formidable predators, feeding on small lizards, large insects, smaller birds and mammals. While they are usually silent the birds will occasionally emit a very high-pitched chirp. While they are not listed as threatened or endangered, due to habitat loss their are growing more rare in the US. The Swamp Sparrow is a medium sized songbird of the Emberizidae family. They are native to much of the northeastern parts of North America and Canada. They are found, as the name implies, in swamps. But they are also found in a variety of other environments including forests, city parks and neighborhoods and open meadows, bogs and brushy, overgrown fields. These birds are about 4.7–5.5 inches in length (12–14 cm) with a wingspan of 7.1–7.5 inches (18–19 cm) and weighing about 0.4–0.8 ounces (11–24 grams.) They are opportunistic feeders, foraging near the water's edge. They'll eat various insects, along with plant materials like berries and seed, and will occasionally feed on aquatic invertebrates too, which they catch by actually placing their heads below the surface of the water.
