Marsh Crocodile – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Marsh Crocodile:
The Marsh or Mugger crocodile is also called the Indian, Indus or Persian crocodile is found throughout the Indian subcontinent and the surrounding countries. It is one of the three crocodilians found in India. It inhabits freshwater lakes, ponds, sluggish rivers, swamps and marshes. Males of the species may grow to about 13-15 feet long (4-4.5 meters) The females are usually smaller. The mugger crocodile has the broadest snout of any extant crocodile which makes it look somewhat like an alligator. The mugger crocodile gets its name from the habit of stealing kills from other predators. Despite this behavior, they are also skilled predators that can hunt and catch on a variety of species. Like other crocodilians they are ambush hunters and wait for their prey to come close. They mostly prey on fish, reptiles, birds and mammals. The mugger crocodile can be a threat to humans, but generally they are not as aggressive as some other species. Due to habitat loss, pollution and overhunting they are considered "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94% Buy a Digital Download
