Arizona Ridge-Nosed Rattlesnake – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Arizona Ridge-Nosed Rattlesnake:

The Arizona Ridge-Nosed Rattlesnake is a venomous reptile native to only a few mountain ranges in Arizona, usually only found above 5000 feet, up to about 8000 in Pine forests and cooler canyons. Generally, the snake doesn't grow larger than a few ounces and longer than 24 inches. The name comes from the snake's distinctive upturned nose. The snake feeds on small lizards, mice, and invertebrates like centipedes. They are very secretive animals, usually only active at dawn and dusk, and are therefore rarely encountered by humans. As these animals are considered threatened by the state of Arizona it is illegal to collect or kill them. They are also the official reptile of the state of Arizona. Curiously, they were the last rattlesnake to be discovered and named by herpetologists in the US. Arrau Turtle – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Arrau River Turtle:

The Arrau River Turtle is one of the largest freshwater turtles on earth. It goes by several names, such as South American river turtle, Giant South American turtle, the Charapa turtle, Tartaruga-da-amazônia, or simply Araú This semi-aquatic reptile is the largest of the side-neck turtles (Pleurodira). The turtle is found in the Amazon River and its tributaries in Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. Adults often reach three feet long (one meter in length.) The turtle is a herbivore, feeding on aquatic plants. Like their relatives the sea turtles, Arrau turtles gather in huge numbers in order to travel to suitable nesting areas. Because of these large nesting areas, and the fact that few of the young survive to adulthood makes the turtle very vulnerable to environmental changes such as pollution and deforestation. Basilosaurus – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Basilosaurus:

The Basilosaurus is an extinct genus of cetaceans - which are marine mammals such as whales, dolphins and porpoises) - that lived during the late Eocene period (40 to 34 million years ago) When they were first discovered in the southern area of the United States it was believed to be a reptile, and that is why they have the suffix "saurus." But later on it was determined to be a marine mammal. Some of the genus grew to be about 60 feet long (18 meters) and believed to be the largest animal living at that time. It was a top predator and would have feared nothing in the ocean, except for those of it's own kind. Fossil specimens have been found having smaller Basilosauruses in their stomachs. The shape of the head wouldn't allow for a large brain, so it's likely that Basilosaurus didn't have the same heightened intelligence or social structures of modern whales. Basilosaurus is the state fossil of both Mississippi and Louisiana.
