The Lemur Leaf Frog is a small treefrog native to the subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, rivers, freshwater marshes, and intermittent freshwater marshes of Costa Rica, Panama, and into Columbia. Due to habitat loss and climate change is it considered to be critically endangered. It breeds in small to medium-sized ponds and seepages by placing its eggs on the vegetation overhanging the water. While not generally encountered in the wild, it can still be found in some of it's former range, usually within a location protected reserve where habitat restoration and artificial breeding sites have been built. It is an arboreal species of tropical moist evergreen forest, deciduous forest, secondary forests and coffee plantations. It is present in the lower canopy and understory levels of the forest. It breeds in vegetation overhanging ponds, and the tadpoles develop in the pools. While the frog, like many of the worlds amphibians, is on the decline due to habitat loss, climate change and pollution, it is not considered endangered.
