Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker:

The Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker is a medium sized woodpecker native to the forested areas of North America, Central America and the Caribbean. This bird measures about 7.1–8.7 inches long, (18–22 cm) with a wingspan of 13–16 inches (34–40 cm) and weighs 1.4–2.2 ounces (40–63 g.) As the name implies, these active bird drill holes into trees and feed upon the sap that leeches out through the holes. They will often choose a weak tree - perhaps one that has been ravaged by disease - and will use that tree to feed for several months, sometimes even years. They will also sometimes use these same trees to build their nests. Yellow-Headed Blackbird – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Yellow-Headed Blackbird:

The Yellow-Headed Blackbird is a passerine bird and a member of the Icteridae family and the only member of the genus Xanthocephalus. Adult males are mainly black with a yellow head and breast; they have a white wing patch sometimes only visible in flight. The adult female is mainly brown with a dull yellow throat and breast. They are typically found in swamps and marshes of North America, mainly west of the Great Lakes. They nest in colonies, often sharing their habitat closely with the Red-winged Blackbird. During the breeding and nesting season the males are very territorial and spend much of their time perched on reed stalks and displaying or chasing off intruders. These birds migrate in the winter to the southwestern United States and Mexico. They often migrate in huge flocks with other species of birds. The only regions of the United States where these blackbirds are permanent residents are the San Joaquin Valley and the Lower Colorado River Valley of Arizona and California. These birds forage in the marsh, in fields or on the ground; they sometimes catch insects in flight. They mainly eat seeds and insects. Outside of the nesting period, they often feed in flocks, often with related species. This bird's song resembles the grating of a rusty hinge.

Information about the Yosemite Toad:

The Yosemite Toad is considered a 'true toad.' It was once very common in the high elevations of the Sierra Nevada mountains. These toads are perhaps the most colorful of the toads found in North America. They are found in damp meadows and pine forests except when they are breeding in the months of May to July. Because of short summers in their native habitat they are only active for 4-5 months a year. Due to habit loss, pesticides and the chytrid fungus they are now endangered.
