Snowflake Moray Eel – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Snowflake Moray Eel:

The Snowflake Moray Eel - also called the Clouded Moray - is a species of marine fish of the family Muraenidae. It is widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific area from the eastern coast of Africa throughout Micronesia including the Red Sea and Hawaii. The species is also found in the eastern Central Pacific from southern Baja California, Mexico, and from Costa Rica to northern Colombia. This species reaches a length of about 40 inches (100 centimeters) but its common size is about half of that. It can be found generally in coral reefs at depths of between 7 and 100 feet (2 and 30 meters.) These fish tend to do very well in captivity and are highly sought after as pets for aquariums, although care must be taken not to introduce fish or crustaceans that might be eaten by the eel, as they are formidable predators.

Southern Crawfish Frog – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Southern Crawfish Frog:

The Southern Crawfish Frog (Rana areolata or Lithobates areolatus is a medium-sized species of frog native to the prairies and grasslands of Indiana west to Kansas, south to Texas, and east to Mississippi. It gets its name because it inhabits the burrows of crayfish for most of the year. The crawfish frog grows from 2.2 to 3.0 in (5.6 to 7.6 cm) in length. Crawfish frogs are found primarily in association with prairie or grassland habitat, though they will also make use of pastures and overgrown fields. They spend most of the year in association with a terrestrial crayfish burrow. Interestingly, this species spends a substantial amount of time active and above ground even on hot summer days, but they never stray far from their burrow which serves as an important retreat from predators, a vital source of water, an escape from grassland fires, and a means to get below the frost line during winter. Crawfish frogs feed opportunistically on insects and other small invertebrates that pass by their burrow. The crawfish frog breeds following mild, rainy weather in mid-March throughout most of its range (breeding occurs much earlier in the southern portion of its distribution).

Information about the Spectacled Caiman:

The Spectacled Caiman - also called the White Caiman or Common Caiman - is a large reptile native to the wetlands, rainforests and flooded forests of much of Central and South America. It can survive in fresh and saltwater, or a combination of the two (called brackish water) and because of this adaptability it is the most common of the crocodilian species in the world. Adult males grow to be about 5.9 to 6.6 feet (1.8 to 2 meters) weighing 15 and 88 pounds (7 and 40 kilograms.) Females are generally a little smaller. The caiman is one of the top predators in it's environment, and it will feed on insects, small invertebrates, crustaceans and mollusks when it is young, and when it grow larger it will eat fish and even mammals such as forest pigs. While the Spectacled Caiman is not considered threatened, some of the other subspecies are such as the Black Caiman.

Spoonbridge and Cherry Sculpture – Signed Fine Art Print

$19.95$27.95

Information about the Spoonbridge and Cherry:

The Spoonbrige & Cherry - also called the Spoon & Cherry - is a large piece of 3D artwork located in the MinneapolisSpoonbridge and Cherry. It was completed between 1985-1989 by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. It was a gift to the gardens from Frederick R. Weisman in honor of his parents; William and Mary Weisman. The materials used in the making of the sculpture is aluminum, paint and stainless steel. The size is approximately 354" tall, 618" long, and 162" wide. Oldenburg is known for his oversized versions of ordinary objects, and has other pieces in the Walker Art Museum, including one of a giant overturned bag of french fries. While the design of the sculpture is due mostly to Oldenburg, his wife helped develop the piece and added the element of the cherry. The spoon weighs about 5,8000 pounds and the cherry is 1,2000. The items were created in a shipbuilding yard in New England. The sculpture became an immediate success and anchor point of the drawing, while the image of the piece became a recognizable image for the city of Minneapolis and the impressive gardens filled with wonderful works of art.
