Information about the Torpedo or Pacific Electric Ray:
The Torpedo Ray - also called the Pacific Electric Ray - is a member of the family of Torpedinidae. They are native to the coastal waters of the northeastern Pacific Ocean from Baja California to as far north as British Columbia in Canada. They are not large rays, but can grow to about 4.5 feet in length (1.4 meters) They are found in kelp forests, rocky reefs and sandy bottoms down to a depth of around 600 feet (200 meters) These rays feed on small fish like anchovies, herring, and the like. They will also eat octopus and other cephalopods, as well as crustaceans. As the name implies, they are able to deliver a sizable electric shock, and because of this divers are advised to keep their distance, especially at night when the rays are feeding. Information about the Pacific Harbor Seal:
Harbor seals have spotted coats which vary from silver-gray to black or dark brown. The grow up to five feet in length and weigh about 300 pounds. The females are slightly smaller than the males. Harbor seals can be found north of the equator in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Pacific Harbor seals in and around the San Francisco Bay often have a reddish hue to their coats. While it's not fully understood as to why this is, it could be because of an accumulation of trace elements such as iron or selenium in the ocean, or a change in the hair follicle itself. Pacific Walrus – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Pacific Walrus:
The Pacific Walrus is a pinniped and one of three sub species of walrus. They inhabit the Bering, Chukchi, and Laptev Seas. They're very large animals, with the bulls growing 10-12 feet and the cows 8-9 feet. They feed on clams, snails, crabs, shrimp and worms. Just like trees, you can tell the age of at walrus by looking at the rings in their tusks. The rest of the year (late summer and fall) the walrus tends to form massive aggregations of tens of thousands of individuals on rocky beaches or outcrops. The migration between the ice and the beach can be long distance and dramatic. In late spring and summer hundreds of thousands of these animals migrate from the Bering Sea to the Chukchi sea through the Bering Strait.
