The Green Kingfisher is can be found from southern Texas in the USA south through Central America to central Argentina in South America. The Green Kingfisher is about 7.5 inches long (19 centimeters) weighing roughly an ounce (26 grams). Like other species of kingfisher, it has the distinctive long bill and short tail. Both the male and females are colored an emerald green-blue, but the males have white underparts apart from a broad chestnut breast band and some green spotting on the sides.
