Long-Billed Curlew – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Billed Curlew:
The Long-Billed Curlew - also sometime called the "Sicklebird" or Candlestick Bird - is a species of shorebird native to the central and western parts of North America. They are notable for their very long beak that curves slightly downwards. The beak is used to probe for food in water saturated environments, very commonly at the seashore where the birds will follow the waves in and out and look for food brought in with the seawater, such as small worms, crustaceans and other invertebrates. At one time the bird's numbers were drastically reduced, but over the last few decades they have rebounded, and the population is now stable. Candlestick Point in San Francisco was named after the alternate name of the Long-Billed Curlew. The Long-Eared Bat is a species of flying mammal native to the western coastal areas of North America. It is a member of the Myotis family which are 'mouse-eared bats', which are diverse and widespread genus with dozens of species. Their ears are normally larger than normal bats. Myotis evotis inhabits a wide range of difference environments, including this often associated with forests. It is found under exfoliating bark, in tree cavities, and in stumps resulting from logging. In areas with few trees, they tend to reside in the crevices of cliffs and even rocks on the ground, in lava-tube caves, and mines which have been abandoned. Long-Eared Owl – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Eared Owl:
The Long-Eared Owl is a medium sized owl being about 15 inches long and having a wingspan of about 40 inches across. They have a large range and are found in temperate forests of North America, Europe and Asia. It is believed that the large and distinctive ear tufts are used to make the owl appear larger to possible predators and other owls. Like other owls the Long-Eared Owl feeds almost exclusively at night, locating it's prey by sounds. It feeds on rodents, small mammals and birds. In controlled conditions these owls have been able to find it's prey in complete darkness. The hoot of a male long-eared owl can be heard up to a nearly a mile away. Long-Finned Pilot Whale – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Fined Pilot Whale:
The Long-Fined Pilot Whale is one of three sub-species belonging to the genus Globicephala. It is a member of the oceanic dolphin family, although like the Orca or Killer Whale it is more whale-like in it's behavior. They are wide-ranging, medium-sized animals with a stocky, sturdy body. Their head has a large bulbous or square-like "melon". Females grow to be 12 feet long (3.7 meters). Males are somewhat larger at 15 feet (4.6 meters) An adult whale weighs 3,600 to 7,000 pounds (1.8 to 3.5 short tons.) They are sometimes called "Blackfish". There are two populations known of - one in the Northern Hemisphere in the North Atlantic, North and Baltic Seas. The other lives in Antarctic waters, covering the entire continental coastal areas. While their remote location makes guesses into their population difficult, these whales are protected under several international treaties. Long-Nosed Leopard Lizard – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Nosed Leopard Lizard:
The Long-Nosed Leopard Lizard is a medium to large sized reptile native to the arid and semi-arid areas of the Western US down into northern Mexico and down the Baja peninsula. They prefer desert flats and dry bushy areas with sparse vegetation. As these reptiles are diurnal they're often seen basking on rocks, followed by hunting and feeding. The Leopard Lizard eats smaller lizards, insects and even rodents. When threatened, the lizard will run under a bush, flatten it's body and 'freeze' until the threat is gone. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94%

Long-Spine Porcupine Fish – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Spine Porcupine Fish:
The Long-Spine or Long-Spine Porcupine Fish (also called the Spiny Balloonfish) is found in much of the world's oceans. They generally inhabit muddy sea bottoms, lagoons and coral reefs. The fish is well-known for it's strange ability to make itself very large by swallowing air and water when threatened. It does this to make itself very unappealing to predators because of the massive spines that stick out when inflated (they lay back on the fish normally.) The spines of the porcupine fish are larger than the pufferfish (which it is sometimes confused with.) The Long-Spine Pufferfish is used in Chinese medicine, even though it can be very poisonous if not prepared correctly. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94%
