Dusky Dolphin – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Dusky Dolphin:
The Dusky Dolphin is a marine mammal found in coastal waters in the Southern Hemisphere. The dolphin's range is patchy, with major populations around South America, southwestern Africa, New Zealand, and various oceanic islands, with some sightings around southern Australia and Tasmania. Its range also includes the Falkland Islands. They are particularly common from Peninsula Valdes to Mar de Plata. It seems to prefer cooler currents and inshore waters, but can also be found offshore. It feeds on a variety of fish and squid species. The Dusky Dolphin is known for its remarkable acrobatics, having a number of aerial behaviors. Compared to other dolphin species, is small to medium in length. There is significant variation in size among the different population areas. The largest dusky dolphins have been encountered off the coast of Peru, where they are up to 6 feet (210 cm) long and weighing 210 pounds (100 kg.) Dusky-Footed Woodrat – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Dusky-Footed Woodrat:
The Dusky-Footed Woodrat is a nocturnal mammal native to the forested areas of Mexico and California. They are sometimes called "packrats" or "trade rats." The Woodrat builds large, doomed dens that can be as large as several feet. These large protective dens usually discourage potential predators. While they are solitary animals, except when breeding, they will live in communities where there are several dens close to one another. It's been recorded that Dusky-footed woodrats of California will selectively place California bay leaves (Umbellularia) around the edges of their nest within their stickhouse to control levels of parasites such as fleas. Dwarf Minke Whale – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Dwarf Minke Whale:
The Dwarf Minke Whale is a marine mammal of the order Cetacea. There is some disagreement if this is indeed a separate species from the Minke Whale (it has not received an official scientific name at this time.) It is the second smallest of the baleen whales, growing to be about 23-35 feet long with the males a being little longer. Adults will generally weigh 3-5 tons. These cetaceans are widely distributed throughout the world's oceans, and can be found from the poles to the tropics. They occasionally will come near coastal areas, but it appears they tend to prefer the open oceans. Due to whaling these large ocean going mammals, were at one times considered endangered, but thanks to the ban on whaling - respected by most countries - their numbers have rebounded and their numbers are stable. Dwarf Seahorse – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Dwarf Seahorse:
The Dwarf Seahorse, sometimes called a 'seapony' because of it's diminutive size - is a member of the Syngnathidae family. It is found western Atlantic Ocean - including the Caribbean sea, the Gulf of Mexico - in grassy seabeds, where it feeds on small crustaceans. It is a very popular aquarium fish, and is the only known seahorse to be easily bred in captivity. They are thought to be slowest moving fish in the world's oceans, according the Guinness Book of World Records, and they probably never attain speeds of more than 0.001 m.p.h.The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
