The Baird’s Tapir (Tapirus bairdii) is a herbivorous mammal which inhabit the forests and wetlands from Mexico to Colombia. It is a large animal, but because it is so shy and retiring it is rarely encountered in the wild. There are estimated to only be about 4,500 individuals.
