Information about the Boreal Chorus Frog:

The Boreal Chorus Frog is a member of the family of Hylidae - which are considered to be "true frogs." These small amphibians usually reach a length of a little less than 2 inches (30 millmeters.) Their coloration can vary a great deal, from a dull gray-brown that covers much of the body, to a lighter shade with 3 bright green stripes/splotches down their backs. These frogs are usually found near permanent bodies of water, often in areas that have been cleared and meadows. They have slightly enlarged toe discs to help them climb grass. Boreal Chorus Frogs are native to Canada from the west of Lake Superior to western Alberta and north to the Northwest Territories. It can be found in in much of Montana east to northwestern Wisconsin, northeastern Arizona, northern New Mexico and southwestern Utah. They are often one of the first frogs to emerge in the spring, sometimes when there is still snow on the ground.
