The Warthog or Common Warthog is a wild pig that lives in the savanna habitats of central and southern Africa. Phacochoerus africanus has four recognized subspecies, and is identifiable by the two pairs of pointed tusks protruding from the mouth, which are used as weapons against predators. Warthogs are omnivorous, and feed on a variety of grasses, roots, berries and other fruits, bark, fungi, eggs and even carrion.
