Information about the Binturong:
The Binturong, also called Asian or Palawan Bearcat – or just Bearcat – is from the family Viverridae, which includes civets and genets. It is the only member of its genus. They live in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, where it resides in the jungle canopy. This mammal is mostly nocturnal, and rarely seen by humans. It is an omnivorous feeder, and will eat fruit, leaves as well as small rodents, birds and the eggs of birds. They can be ferocious if cornered. They have a curious odor, sometimes compared to buttered popcorn or cornbread. They are considered vulnerable to due habitat loss.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:

Artist’s notes:
The drawing of the Binturong was completed on 3.18.2011. I had heard of these animals and was thinking about drawing one, but I really wasn’t sure what they looked like. Then I received a request from a keeper at the Pittsburg Zoo, and I decided it was the right time to render one. It is based on a photo by Pouya Razavi.
