Chilean Flamingo – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Information about the Chilean Flamingo:
The Chilean Flamingo is a large species of shorebird closely related to Caribbean and Greater Flamingo. As the same suggests it occurs in temperate areas of Central Peru south through Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina to Tierra del Fuego, but it has also been introduced into areas of Germany and the Netherlands. The flamingo inhabits shallow saline and alkaline lakes and lagoons. Like all flamingos this bird is very gregarious as it generally flocks in groups of a few hundred to tens of thousands, where it displays ritualized movements of head and wings, accompanied by loud calls. The Chilean Flamingo is not considered threatened.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%

Artist’s notes:
The Chilean Flamingo was completed on 3/19/2009. It’s based on sketches and photos done at the San Francisco Zoo. I love flamingos and had been meaning to draw one for some time. They really are gorgeous and graceful birds. I was fairly amazed to learn that the pink comes from a specific type of algae the birds eat.
