Like all foxes it is omnivorous and feeds on a variety of plant matter, animals, carrion and even insects such as beetles and grasshoppers. The Swift Fox prefers to inhabit deserts and short-grass prairies. They are primarily nocturnal, spending much of the daytime asleep in dens.
