Information about the Boreal Owl:

The Boreal Owl is a small owl native to much of the central and northern forests of North America, Asia and Europe. It is also known as the Tengmalm's Owl after Swedish naturalist Peter Gustaf Tengmalm. Other names for the owl include Richardson's Owl, Funeral Owl, Sparrow Owl, and Pearl Owl. This species is a part of the larger grouping of owls known as typical owls, Strigidae, which contains most other species of owl. The Boreal Owl grows to be about 8.7–11 inches long (22–27 centimeters) with a 20–24 inch wingspan (50–62 centimeters . Like other owls, is a skilled predator, feeing mainly on voles and other mammals. It will also prey on smaller birds as well as insects and other invertebrates. The Buffy Fish Owl is a one of four species of fish owl. While it's a fairly large owl, it's the smallest of the fish owls. Adults are about 15-19 inches (38-48 cm.) Bubo ketupu is native to the dense tropical forests of Southeast Asia. As the name implies, a large proportion of the Buffy Fish Owl's diet consists of fish, as well as crustaceans, reptiles, frogs, toads and insects. Rats, mice and large beetles are also taken. The Bearded Vulture - also called the Lammergeier or Lammergeyer - is a large bird of prey native to the rugged and mountainous regions from Europe through much of Asia and Africa.
