Information about the Larger Pacific Striped Octopus:
The Larger Pacific Striped Octopus is a species of octopus native to They have been much in the news because of their behavior, which is so different and in many ways contrary to what is generally held to be our common understanding of what is believed to be standard octopus behavior. This species appears to thrive in captivity, will breed in a tank filled with other individuals, and mate beak to beak, all of which is contrary to normal octopus behavior. Tanks can even have more than one male, which again is highly unusual. The species does not yet have a scientific or binominal name. They are currently being studies at the California Academy of Sciences and University of California at Berkeley. Lemon Shark – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Lemon Shark:
Lemon Sharks - so called due to the pale yellow-brown coloring - are found mainly along the subtropical and tropical parts of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of North and South America, and in and around the Pacific Islands. They are medium-sized sharks, usually about 8 to 10 ft (3.0 m). These fish prefer warm tropical waters, and are generally found at moderate depths along the sandy bottoms or in coral reefs, but they occasionally come into the shallows to look for prey. Unlike other sharks, this species does well in captivity and is often used to study shark behavior. Lemon sharks are often accompanied by remoras. The Leopard Seal is the second largest seal in the Antarctic (the Southern Elephant Seal being the largest.) It is most often found along the icy, coastal waters surrounding Antarctica. The males or bulls generally grow to about 8.5 to 12 feet (2.5–3.2 meters) and can weigh to an astonishing 1,000 pounds. The females can grow even larger and heavier. It is a spectacular and fearsome predator, with only the Killer Whale and some of the larger sharks posing a threat to it. It feed mostly on penguins, fish, krill and even occasionally other smaller seals like the Crabeater seal. The Leopard Seal has a powerful jaw and a mouthful of very sharp canines. The Leopard Ray - also called the Leopard Whipray - is a member of the family of Dasyatidae. Apart from where these rays live, which is the warm tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, from South Africa to Australia, little is know of this species. They are a large species of ray, reaching about 4.5 feet (1.4 meters) across and nearly 13 feet long (4.1 meters) It is believed to feed on small crustaceans and fish, as is the case with other species of ray. Because so little is known of this animal, environmental groups are unsure of the status in regards to it's conservation. Long-Finned Pilot Whale – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Fined Pilot Whale:
The Long-Fined Pilot Whale is one of three sub-species belonging to the genus Globicephala. It is a member of the oceanic dolphin family, although like the Orca or Killer Whale it is more whale-like in it's behavior. They are wide-ranging, medium-sized animals with a stocky, sturdy body. Their head has a large bulbous or square-like "melon". Females grow to be 12 feet long (3.7 meters). Males are somewhat larger at 15 feet (4.6 meters) An adult whale weighs 3,600 to 7,000 pounds (1.8 to 3.5 short tons.) They are sometimes called "Blackfish". There are two populations known of - one in the Northern Hemisphere in the North Atlantic, North and Baltic Seas. The other lives in Antarctic waters, covering the entire continental coastal areas. While their remote location makes guesses into their population difficult, these whales are protected under several international treaties. Long-Spine Porcupine Fish – Signed Fine Art Print
Information about the Long-Spine Porcupine Fish:
The Long-Spine or Long-Spine Porcupine Fish (also called the Spiny Balloonfish) is found in much of the world's oceans. They generally inhabit muddy sea bottoms, lagoons and coral reefs. The fish is well-known for it's strange ability to make itself very large by swallowing air and water when threatened. It does this to make itself very unappealing to predators because of the massive spines that stick out when inflated (they lay back on the fish normally.) The spines of the porcupine fish are larger than the pufferfish (which it is sometimes confused with.) The Long-Spine Pufferfish is used in Chinese medicine, even though it can be very poisonous if not prepared correctly. The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality: • Paper thickness: 10.3 mil • Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²) • Opacity: 94%
