The Scarlet Tanager is a songbird native to North America. While it is called a tanager the bird is not actually a member of the Thraupidae (tanager) family but the Cardinalidae (cardinal) family. It is found throughout much of the eastern forests of the US and Canada. During migration the bird migrates southwards though Central America into areas of north central South America. While the body of the male is a striking cardinal red with black wings, the female is an olive yellow with darker brownish wings. The Rusty Blackbird is a medium-sized blackbird native to Canada and the United States. It spends the summers around the Arctic Circle and the winters in the southeastern part of the lower 48 states. While they might resemble a warbler, they are not closely related to them. This bird had more songs than any other bird species, with one being recorded as having about 20,000 in one day. It is found from North Carolina via the Gulf Coast of the United States south through most of the coastal New World tropics.
