African Elephant – Signed Fine Art Print
$19.95 – $27.95
Fine art illustration of an African Elephant (Loxodonta africana.)
Information about the African Elephant:
African Elephants are the earth’s heaviest land animal and are also the second tallest. The two finger-like projections on the tip are so dexterous they can pick a blade of grass. Their massive ears are used to help them to keep cool in the hot African climate. Elephants are herbivores and eat all types of vegetation such as grasses, leaves, fruits, and bark. They have the largest brain size versus body weight other than man.
The poster is printed on matte, museum-quality paper with Giclée printing quality:
• Paper thickness: 10.3 mil
• Paper weight: 5.6 oz/y² (192 g/m²)
• Opacity: 94%
Artist’s notes:
This was one of the first animals I attempted. I believe it was created while I was living in Germany in 1998. It was originally just a pen and ink illustration and the color was added in 2006. Technically it’s not the strongest drawing, but the pose and the way the elephant meets the viewer’s gaze I find effective. This is mostly a line art drawing without too much stippling. I was still working on a style and trying to figure out natural forms rather than the architectural ones I had been used to.
