The Amazon Milk Frog – also called the Clown Treefrog and Mission Golden-Eyed Frog – is a large tree-dwelling amphibian native to the tropical rainforests of the Amazon Jungle. Adults generally grow to be about 2.5 to 4 inches long (6.4-10 cm) They can vary in color from brown, to blueish and green. The name comes from the “milk” the frogs secrete when they are stressed. Like other frogs, the Milk Frog is mostly insectivorous, feeding on any small invertebrate it can catch and swallow. They are popular pets, and are often kept in small aquariums where they generally do well. Despite to habit loss, collection for the pet trade and climate change these amphibians are not considered vulnerable or endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
