Description

Fine art illustration of a Black-Tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus.) The illustration is available in black and white or color.

Artist’s notes:

The Black-Tailed Jackrabbit was completed on 11.6.2010. As always, fur rendering fur on a mammal can prove challenging. I find if I use a smaller sized pen so the stipple is smaller, the overall effect is a softening of the texture of the animal’s coat. I spent extra time on the eye here, because I knew it was going to be where the eye was naturally drawn in to that part of the rabbit. The drawing is based on a photo by Gene Thompson.
